Backstory for context:

Tripping Roots was born from a deep-rooted passion for preserving and celebrating nature's wonders. Inspired by the lush landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage of Costa Rica, we set out on a mission to create a brand that not only empowers individuals to connect with nature but also advocates for its conservation. Our love for the environment and our desire to inspire positive change became the driving force behind the birth of Tripping Roots™.

Creative Brief: 

Scope: 

- Naming the brand: Developing a memorable and evocative name that captures the essence of nature and wanderlust.
- Create a wordmark that's legible on all format sizes: Designing a versatile and visually appealing wordmark for brand recognition.
- Create a secondary combination mark: Crafting a complementary visual element to enhance brand flexibility.
- Create a symbol or mascot: Developing a captivating symbol or mascot that embodies the spirit of Tripping Roots™.
- Create a slogan: Crafting a powerful and resonant slogan that conveys our commitment to environmental stewardship.
- Branding to use in Shopify store and social media (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and future Website) and merchandise (t-shirts, backpacks, calendars, mugs).
- Designing a cohesive and engaging brand identity for diverse applications.
- Create the color palette that works printed and online: Curating a harmonious color palette that evokes the beauty of Costa Rica's landscapes.
- Create patterns for general applications: Developing versatile patterns inspired by the flora and fauna of Costa Rica.
- Create the Shopify Store information and images: Establishing an inviting and user-friendly Shopify store to showcase our products.
- Create mockups for the clothing: Presenting realistic and eye-catching mockups of our clothing line.

Audience: 

- Costa Rican tourists: Appealing to locals who take pride in their natural heritage.
- Middle class, high-class citizens that love nature: Attracting individuals who value quality and environmental consciousness.
- Foreign tourists visiting Costa Rica: Connecting with tourists seeking authentic souvenirs and environmentally-friendly products.
- Expats living in Costa Rica: Engaging with expats who have embraced Costa Rica's culture and want to support local initiatives.
- Environmentalists and animal caring humans: Inspiring those who are passionate about nature conservation and wildlife protection.
- Ages 12-65+: Resonating with a wide age range of individuals who share a love for nature and a desire to make a positive impact.

In a local market saturated with souvenir makers and fashion designers, Tripping Roots™ aims to stand out by offering a unique and eco-conscious brand experience and also a disruptive business model.

- Establish Tripping Roots™ as the go-to brand for authentic and sustainable souvenirs in Costa Rica.

- Forge meaningful connections with tourists and local artists through strategic alliances and e-commerce channels.
- Extend the creative work to apparel and merchandise for broader brand reach.
- Envision a potential future expansion with a physical shop as a sanctuary for nature lovers.

Our brand personality is multifaceted – we are adventurous, eco-conscious, spirited, and committed to nurturing a sustainable future. Tripping Roots™ embodies the spirit of wanderlust, inspiring people to embrace the beauty of the world around them and take steps to protect it.

The brand essence is summarized as "Savage Wanderlust".

My goal was to bring life the store using very simple layout to display the products like if they were on the fun version of a National Museum, and actively including the brand's values throughout the user experience.
